Paris Saint-Germain kicked off the 2025 Club World Cup in the best possible way, showing exactly why they’re currently considered the best team in the world. The French giants, who won every competition they played in this season, opened the tournament with a commanding 4-0 win over Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.

Next up for Luis Enrique’s squad is their second group-stage match, set for Thursday at 9 PM ET against Botafogo of Brazil. Botafogo also won their opener, defeating MLS side Seattle Sounders 2-1. It’s a crucial clash that could determine early qualification to the knockout stage.

Dembélé ruled out of the group stage

Despite their strong form, PSG are still missing one of their key players: Ousmane Dembélé. The French winger suffered a left quadriceps injury that will keep him out for the entire group stage. The coaching staff remains hopeful he’ll recover in time for the Round of 16, but his availability remains uncertain.

Luis Enrique is making sure his squad enjoys a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere during their stay in the United States, without losing focus on the competition. According to French outlet L’Équipe, players train in the morning and then have free time until the evening.

They spend their afternoons watching shows, relaxing, enjoying hotel amenities, or even heading out to the beach. Shopping at malls is also on the table, as many players go unrecognized and can move about freely.

Time off in Los Angeles

Some players take advantage of their free time to explore Los Angeles, visiting iconic tourist spots like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. Head coach Luis Enrique himself often steps out to enjoy the city, and the coaching staff even allows players to spend time with their families during the team’s stay.
