Why Frank Lampard may have just burned some bridges with Chelsea owners

Super Frank Lampard has become the latest voice to take a shot at the way Chelsea are operating, or at least have operated.

Whilst not a direct shot at the owners, Lampard’s words certainly seem to be a dig at how the club were operating when he was the interim manager.

When Lampard was there at that point, it was an awful time. Things were at the lowest point they had been for a very long time at our club and Lampard had an impossible task to try and steady a ship that had already sunk.

The majority of the players had eyes on the exit door and were already sorting out moves away. Everything at the club at that point from top to bottom was awful.

Lampard has spoken out a bit on that time, and it’s not a great look at all.

He said:

“Going back to Chelsea as interim, it was a really tough time at the club, and I saw a lot of things. People questioned like, was it the right thing to do?

“I saw things there that I know can’t be right at the elite level. And that’s the truth.”

It would be amazing to know exactly what he is pointing at here. But I guess we have to assume that due to that period being so awful, that things have changed for the better at the club now. Only time will tell.

I also don’t think Lampard has really burned any bridges with these comments either by the way, I was joking with that. I think he’ll be just fine and I think his honesty here should be appreciated. I’d just love to hear more on this…
