Who will be the Seattle Seahawks’ starting interior offensive line in Week 1?

An optimist’s guide to the 2025 New England Patriots

If a game had to be played tomorrow, the Seattle Seahawks would have Charles Cross and Abe Lucas as the unquestioned starters at tackle. Everything else is up for grabs, albeit with the assumption that Grey Zabel should start at left guard.

The interior of Seattle’s offensive line has been an adventure for a long, long time. Zabel has the positional versatility to play across the line, but left guard looks to be his spot unless he’s needed elsewhere or is a better fit at center or right guard. It’s a different story at C and RG, where it’s seemingly been a revolving door due to injuries and/or substandard play.

At the moment, Olu Oluwatimi is favored to be the starting center over Jalen Sundell, while Anthony Bradford and Christian Haynes are splitting reps at right guard. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak told reporters on Wednesday about the status of that competition.

Unless there’s a breakout moment for Sataoa Laumea as a reserve guard, it looks like the real position battles in question are down to Oluwatimi/Sundell at C and Bradford/Haynes at RG. We’re still in the middle of OTAs and a lot can change in terms of snap allocation and hierarchy through minicamp and into training camp.

Bradford hasn’t exactly been a popular figure through his first two seasons but he’s still shown some signs of promise, particularly as a run blocker. Haynes barely saw the field last year but will be in a more familiar blocking scheme under offensive line coach John Benton, with the belief that we could see the best out of him under these circumstances. I’m sure that there will be concern if Haynes doesn’t win a starting job through his second season with two OL coaches and two OL systems.

Oluwatimi was second to Evan Brown as a rookie and Connor Williams last season before Williams’ abrupt retirement. This is the first offseason where he seemingly has the inside track on a starting job, but he still has to earn it. Sundell rarely played in 2024 but was praised for his preseason showings and his limited snaps as backup center.

Fun times ahead! We hope! Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below! Who will be Seattle’s LG-C-RG starting combo come September?
