Unbeaten hard-punching OPBF featherweight champ WBA#6 Mikito Nakano (12-0, 11 KOs), 126, very impressively decked compatriot challenger Hiroki Hanabusa (13-4-5, 5 KOs), 126, twice and halted him at 2:05 of the third spherical to retain his regional belt in his preliminary protection on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. His supervisor/promoter Akihiko Honda praised his wonderful efficiency, saying, “I’m now dealing with 9 champions, however Nakano is among the greatest amongst them. I’ll have him face a world-rated opponent subsequent.” Nakano floored the sport challenger with a phenomenal southpaw left uppercut after which with a well-timed proper hook once more so badly that referee Fukuchi correctly declared a well-received halt. He could also be a champion within the making.
