Marketa Vondrousova will head to Wimbledon with confidence – and back in the Top 100 – after claiming the Berlin title on Sunday.
Ranked 164 last week, Vondrousova defeated sixth-ranked Madison Keys and No.1-ranked Aryna Sabalenka en route to her third career title.
The southpaw springs 91 spots to No. 73 this week, and she’ll have no points to defend at Wimbledon, where she won the title in 2023 but lost in the first round last year.
Kessler on the Rise
Also on the rise is 25-year-old American McCartney Kessler, who defeated Dayana Yastremska for the Nottingham title and makes her Top-40 debut in this week’s rankings at No.32. She’ll be seeded at Wimbledon this year, after starting the 2024 season at 217 in the world.
There are currently nine American women ranked inside the Top 35.
2 Coco Gauff
3 Jessica Pegula
6 Madison Keys
10 Emma Navarro
13 Amanda Anisimova
28 Sofia Kenin
31 Ashlyn Krueger
32 McCartney Kessler
35 Peyton Stearns
And a total of 18 inside the Top 100.
Wang Xinyu Closing in on Career-High
China’s Wang Xinyu, who upset Coco Gauff en route to the Berlin final, rises 16 spot to No.33, and is just one spot shy of her career-high ranking of 32.
