Cristiano Ronaldo added another chapter to his legendary career at the age of 40, helping Portugal secure the 2025 UEFA Nations League title with a dramatic penalty shootout win over Spain. After the final kick, cameras captured an emotional Ronaldo, tears streaming down his face as he celebrated the historic moment.

Rúben Neves stepped up to take the decisive penalty. With a powerful strike, the midfielder sealed Portugal’s victory. As the ball hit the back of the net, Ronaldo dropped to his knees in celebration, overwhelmed by the moment.

Once he stood up, tears continued to fall as he walked toward his teammates, acknowledging their role in another major international triumph. Surrounded by players and staff, Ronaldo embraced those closest to him in a heartfelt celebration that moved fans across the globe.

Ronaldo adds to his legacy with Portugal

Despite producing world-class talent over the decades, Portugal didn’t claim its first major international trophy until the Cristiano Ronaldo era. Now, the legendary forward has added yet another piece of silverware to both his and his country’s collection.

Portugal’s first major title came at Euro 2016, when they stunned hosts France in the final. That was followed by the 2019 Nations League triumph over the Netherlands. In 2025, at 40 years old, Ronaldo proved that age is just a number—lifting a third international trophy, this time against longtime rivals Spain.
