Things turned ugly at a boxing event last night (Sat., May 17, 2025) at Shuan Boxing’s Saturday Fight Night from inside Pabellon de Karate Centro Olimpico in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, when a referee was viciously attacked inside of the ring by a group of angry men.

Details are still scarce at this time, but the incident appeared to happen following a main event clash between former super-flyweight title challenger Norbelto Jimenez and the undefeated Marcelino Nieves.

As Jimenez was snapping photos with his team inside of the ring, the referee can be seen getting chased down and pinned along the ropes. Out of nowhere a collection of men rushed the referee and started beating him with punches and kicks. The referee was fighting for his life and tried to claw his way out of the ring. He made it to another corner while being beaten about his head before getting kicked out of the ring.

The video footage stops there, but it appears some of the men pursued the referee into the crowd and kept attacking him. It was a wild moment for boxing fans to say the least and a horrific experience for the referee. Check out the incident in the above video player.

Believe it or not, this appears to be the same referee that was involved in an incident back in June 2024 when he became completely unhinged and tried fighting a boxer inside of the ring. It might be time for this ref to officially hang it up and do something else with his life.

After Saturday’s incident, members of the boxing community hit social media to show their disgust for the post-fight brawl. This included women’s boxing legend Claressa Shields, who delivered the following message:

“This is FK’N RIDICULOUS!!!!! This is sad!!!!!”
