Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly prepared to reject Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal for a second time in just a few days, with a potential move to Manchester United still on the cards.

United are on the hunt for a new striker and Osimhen is believed to be a player on their list.

Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, having been offloaded there following his failed attempt to secure a transfer away from Napoli last summer.

He didn’t miss a beat in Turkey, scoring a terrific 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. Galatasaray are understandably eager to keep Osimhen in their squad, but the financial demands make a permanent deal extremely difficult to pull off.

Earlier this month, Osimhen appeared to be on the verge of joining Al-Hilal, with the Saudi club prepared to trigger his €75 million release clause and offering him a staggering €35 million per year in wages. However, he turned down the move at the final moment.

It was stated that the Nigerian superstar is holding out for a move to the Premier League, with United described as his “dream” destination. There were even claims that United had reopened talks in an effort to reach an agreement.

However, a report covered by The Peoples Person over the weekend revealed that Al-Hilal are not backing down in their pursuit of Osimhen and are preparing to table a new, significantly improved offer in a fresh attempt to lure him.

According to Goal, Al-Hilal are set to make one final push to lure Osimhen away from Napoli, with an astronomical salary proposal that could see the striker earn up to €50m per year.

But, they look certain to be disappointed, with Diario AS [via TNT Sports] reporting that Osimhen is expected to reject their offer once again.

It’s understood Osimhen is prioritising “legacy and sporting challenge” over financial gain.

The report highlights that the United target remains focused on securing a move to the Premier League.

United are seen as a genuine option, with relations between the Red Devils and Napoli said to be positive, helped by Scott McTominay’s move to Serie A last summer.
