The 2024 season held Grand Slam glory and main scandal for Max Purcell.

Reigning US Open doubles champion Purcell has elected to enter a voluntary provisional suspension beneath the Tennis Anti-Doping Program, the ITIA introduced right now.

The 26-year-old Aussie, at the moment ranked No. 12 in doubles, has admitted to a breach of Article 2.2 of the TADP regarding using a Prohibited Methodology, and requested to enter right into a provisional suspension on December 10, 2024.

The suspension began on December 12, 2024, and time served beneath provisional suspension will probably be credited in opposition to any future sanction, the ITIA mentioned in a press release.

Through the provisional suspension, Purcell is prohibited from enjoying in, teaching at, or attending any tennis occasion authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any nationwide affiliation.

The ITIA didn’t specify what substance Purcell admitted utilizing.

In an Instagram put up, Purcell mentioned he exceeded the “allowable restrict” with an IV infusion of nutritional vitamins.


Purcell and compatriot Jordan Thompson captured the US Open doubles championship a few months after falling within the Wimbledon doubles ultimate.
