Morning Report | Chael Sonnen believes Islam Makhachev ‘has to let go’ of thoughts of lightweight return

Alex Pereira is set for — what many believe is — his toughest defense of his UFC light heavyweight title as he’ll face No. 1 contender Magomed Ankalaev in the main event of UFC 313. With an incredible run in 2024, and the possibility of history in front of him, could Pereira be heading into his final 205-pound divisional fight this Saturday?

Ahead of Saturday’s pay-per-view event, MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck and Jed Meshew preview the card, the main event between Pereira and Ankalaev, burning questions ahead of the title fight, and discuss where both guys could go based on the result. Additionally, they’ll discuss the co-main event rematch between former interim lightweight and BMF champ Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev, how close the winner could be from a title shot, other standout bouts on the lineup, and answer viewer questions.

Catch the UFC 313 preview show above. An audio-only version of the show can be found below and on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and wherever you find your favorite podcasts.
