Tyree Hill, should he stay or should he go, according to you!

6/2/25 UPDATE: Miami Dolphins Orange Jersey Award TRACKER; QB1 reigns supreme!

Another member of the Eagles’ Super Bowl 52 team is retiring from the NFL

Mayfield made significant change ahead of working with new Bucs OC

Last week, the story of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill listing his top five quarterbacks in the NFL emerged. Hill, who since arriving in Miami has touted his starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as one of, if not the best, quarterbacks in the NFL, somehow now left him off the list, leading to a lot of speculation among fans and the media.

After that story came out, I asked the following question:

Do you view the latest unfortunate story surrounding Tyreek Hill as a non-issue that the media and some fans are exaggerating, or could there be something more to it, suggesting that Hill might be leaving town sooner rather than later?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers-

phinette, like many of us, is tired of putting up with the drama that comes with Tyreek being a member of your team.

Who knows whether he wants out. Tyreek reminds me of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors. “Feed me Seymour. Feed me.” If he’s not getting the majority of targets he goes into tantrum mode. There is no denying his talent, but putting up with the histrionics is quite tiresome.

cyberflea turns the question around!

The real question is….do we want him to be here?

Dolfanjoe says we need him, and the team has no intention of trading him, so it’s a moot point.

Hill is going thru a divorce ! Probably looking forward to getting back on the field. Nothing better than work for avoiding problems, let his lawyers handle the ugly things. Miami has no intention to trade Hill. Although before the trade deadline and chances for a playoff spot looked grim, and a playoff team needed that extra help maybe due to injury. It could happen then ! But right now they want to play well and have a chance. Having Hill with a running game would give us that. Hill is still a top receiver in the NFL. He needs the alimony money and we need him !

darrel.owen says that integrity matters for actual material reasons beyond public opinion.

I think this shows the importance of drafting and signing players who have integrity and are of high moral character. Bringing in immature players like Tyreek only causes problems down the road, offsetting any value they bring to the team. Fewer Tyreeks and Xavien Howards and more Calais Campbells and Zach Seilers.

StanleyDoyle1 believes Hill has put himself on the slippery slope of possibly becoming Antonio Brown.

A bigger question is, who cares what Hill thinks? He was 30th in the NFL in receiving yards last year, 35th in TDs. He’s one tantrum away from the relevancy of Antonio Brown.

Leave him alone: we’ll hear about his next incident in June – he can’t help but cry for attention.

Spok507 says there’s nothing to see here.

It’s a non-issue. He was asked a question and he answered it. How many people — who aren’t wearing aqua and orange glasses — would honestly put Tua in the top 5 in the league? Who on Hill’s list would he even be considered maybe better than? Mayfield? Not lately. And Mayfield has availability on his side. But Allen, Jackson, Burrow and Mahomes are all above Tua without question. So yeah, Hill spent the last few years building Tua up — which is what he should’ve done as a good teammate. But he answered a direct question with an honest — and in my opinion, correct — answer. If Tua or the Front Office is offended, they need to toughen up. But I don’t beleive they were since they know Hill and know his tendency to answer questions to bait the media. Does Tyreek need to learn some diplomacy? Probably. But he wasn’t wrong.

Dolfanjoe believes he will be here in 2025, unless someone offers us a first and some change, and then he will likely be gone by 2026.

Who is the best receiver on this team ? Who is one of the fastest receivers in the league ? Who can you send deep and have two of your opposing defensive players covering him ? Distraction ? No doubt at times ! A top weapon on offense when used correctly, no doubt ! Will Hill be here next year ? No doubt he will be gone unless he took a rather large pay cut ! Injuries happen to all teams and that is why he could be traded before the trade deadline to a team willing to give us a first and more. But until then, he is a Miami Dolfin. How many times have we wanted them to throw a quick slant to Hill on third and three ? And throw the ball backwards to Hill and expect him to make the play ! Play calling, no offensive line. So much of this is on McD and injuries did play a big part. They are not tanking, they are going to try and win games and keep jobs. But we are not going to be the same team in 26 that we are now. How many other expensive big name players will be gone or traded if they fail during this season ? Grier has set it up that 26 very well could be a roster turn over year. But not a complete rebuild, we have young talent and if developed we could look good going forward. What will 25 bring ? 10 – 7 make the playoff’s will everyone be happy ? 7 – 10 And things will change big time in 26. The rebuild failed, no one questions that. But not a team devoid of young talent, so yes we do have hope for the next few years !

tpl want him gone!

Hill is too big of a distraction. Miami should trade him or cut him.

Alley Gator believes that Hill just wants the Chiefs to want him.

Like most jilted lovers, I think he wants to prove that Kansas City was wrong and have them beg to take him back. I bet when he watched the Super Bowl he was yelling “I TOLD YOU SO!” and never realized it was the Chiefs offensive line, not the WR’s fault.

LSC20&Olney says that Andy Reid showed us what we should have known all along.

I made a comment a few weeks back that Andy Reid knew what he was doing letting him go to Miami. Then someone made a snarky comment about it being money related. While I won’t doubt the money angle it is apparent that he wore out his welcome. The chiefs certainly haven’t missed him and the distractions he brings. They keep winning playoff games and championships without him. Meanwhile he hasn’t won squat in Miami. When you get paid top dollar it’s put up or shut up.

Well, there are another ten random comments for this evening. As usual with our fanbase, there is no real consensus. Hill is one of those guys who is a great player and also very polarizing. I think the truth is that the team would like to trade him if the correct amount were offered for him. At the same time, Chris Grier and, possibly even more so, Mike McDaniel are working for their jobs this coming season and do not want to do anything that doesn’t help them win more games.

The comment that he is gone after this coming season is probably spot on. Hills’ scheduled cap number in 2026 is $51,898,750. If he’s cut before free agency next year, he saves the team $36,330,000 while eating $15,568,750 in dead cap space. Designating him a post June 1st cut in 2025 would save $39,170,000 with $12,728,750 in dead money. The only other option would be a restructure/extension, which is hard to see happening, but I guess this front office has done some pretty questionable things in the past, so who knows.

As always, thank you to everyone who took the time to read and answer our question of the day. Without your participation, this site probably doesn’t work, and these posts certainly do not work.
