Tottenham Hotspur are ready to step up their pursuit of River Plate’s teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono, with Manchester United potentially dropping out of the race. The North London club is keen to add another top young talent to its growing pool of future stars.

According to Give Me Sport, Spurs are prepared to make their move for the 17-year-old attacking midfielder this summer. While Manchester United were once considered frontrunners, doubts over his development path and financial constraints may see them abandon their pursuit, leaving Tottenham with a clear path to securing his signature.

Spurs’ Youth-Driven Recruitment Strategy

Under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have doubled down on recruiting elite young prospects, evident in the recent signings of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray. Mastantuono fits the mold perfectly—an attacking midfielder with immense technical ability and the versatility to develop into a winger.

Premier League clubs have closely monitored the River Plate prodigy, with Manchester United previously considering triggering his £38 million release clause. However, with United cooling their interest, Tottenham are eager to strike a deal at a lower price.

Spurs are set to open negotiations with River Plate, aiming to secure Mastantuono’s services before the start of next season. With a squad built for long-term success, could the Argentine wonderkid be the next rising star in North London?
