Tosin Adarabioyo hasn’t always received raved reviews from Chelsea fans and I’ve of course offered critique on this site as well.
He’s not always looked as good as he has done in the last couple of months, but we need to highlight how good and how consistent he has been in that space of time recently.
I always backed the signing of Tosin, I said at the time it was a no brainer because there was no transfer fee. He also bought with him needed experience as well as leadership.
Come September, Tosin will turn 28-years-old and he is the most experienced player in our regular starting Xl. I think those attributes have been needed in this squad and we often hear about the players referring to him as ‘Uncle Tosin’ and how much influence and leadership he has and provides to the group. That is so important.
Tosin wore the captains armband for a bit last night against ES Tunis, and it suits him well.
Chelsea need dominant centre backs and although Tosin hasn’t always shown that so far in Chelsea blue (I remember him being bullied and dominated by a certain Liam Delap last season amongst others), he is certainly showing it in the last couple of months.
At 6ft 5in tall, he absolutely should be dominating everything in the air as well as on the ground with his physique. And that is the impressive Tosin we have been seeing lately.
He was named Man of the Match overnight and his performances have actually been like this for a while now. It’s so important to hand him his flowers for that. I’ve been really impressed with him.
I do hope it continues going forward because he is proving to be a very smart signing, as I said at the time.
