Departing Manchester United defender Jack Kingdon has sent an emotional farewell message to the club and supporters after it was announced he will be released.
Earlier today, United announced that Kingdon is one of nine players set to depart the club later this month upon the expiration of their contracts.
He has been at United for the last five years, having joined as a 15-year-old from Morecambe.
Kingdon was a consistent figure at both Under-18 and Under-21 levels, but he never made a first-team appearance for the senior side.
The Bolton-born footballer played a key role in United’s Under-18s winning an incredible treble in the 2023/24 season.
In the 2024/25 campaign, he made 26 appearances across all competitions.
He spent the second half ot the season at non-league side Rochdale, having joined them on loan in January. Kingdon played 16 times for Rochdale as the club missed out on promotion in the National League’s play-offs.
The 19-year-old took to Instagram after confirmation of his exit and thanked everyone associated with United for aiding his development and supporting him.
He wrote, “After nearly five years at this club, it is my time to move onto the next chapter in my career.”
“The experiences this club has given me I will always be grateful for.”
“The lads, staff and fans have been outstanding with me whilst I’ve been here.”
“Manchester United will always have a place in my heart, but it is time for the next chapter. Thank you, Reds.”
United have assured that Kingdon, along with the other released academy players, will receive support in securing new clubs and navigating their transition out of the club.
