All-time great Tiger Woods is by far one of the most influential athletes in all of the game, and still building his legacy. While still having his competitive edge as seen in recent events, Woods has also ventured out into different lanes. One in particular being his newly created clothing line “Sun Day Red”, which was created in 2024.
Now having an apparel line for any and every golf enthusiast, he has now found his way into the PGA Tour. As of Tuesday evening, PGA Tour rookie Karl Vilips has become the first professional ambassador. Now having the ability to shed more light on this apparel line, it will also push Vilips to higher performances.
Karl Vilips gets the blessing from Sun Day Red
The rookie in Vilips will be making his PGA Tour debut this Thursday, at the 2025 New Mexico Open. After making his way back from an early injury to start this season, his comeback will be in high fashion. Getting the nod from one of his early idols in Woods, was a high honor as expressed in reports.
“It’s a thrill to be a part of Sun Day Red, especially so early on as we start to grow the brand around the world,” Vilips said. “Tiger Woods was my idol growing up, and knowing that he drives the insights and meticulousness behind Sun Day Red’s apparel and footwear gives us a unique edge that no other company can match. I couldn’t be more proud to be the brand’s first official ambassador.”
With a deep field of play to come in his debut at the New Mexico Open, Vilips will have to bring his best capabilities. Lots of eyes and discussions will be surrounding his play after this achievement, deservingly so. The lights will not be bright enough to blind the young rookie, given his experience in handling his business on the course.
Can Vilips continue his lucky hand?
Vilips is not unfamiliar with the big stage early on, winning the Junior Worlds at just the age of 10. Moving to the United States at the age of 11, the rookie went on to emulate a path similar to his idol in Woods. Taking his talents to the University of Stanford, everything from there was set in stone for Vilips and company.
His PGA Tour card was granted with an impressive performance last year, at the Korn Ferry Tour. Where he was able to take home the Utah championship, also finishing 19th in standings while taking home the Rookie of the Year. A big factor for Vilips come Thursday, will be to stay efficient early on in round one. Putting together a strong performance out the gates will be key for the mental, giving Vilips some fire to cook with. According to 2024 Korn Ferry Tour stats, he ranked fifth in birdie or better conversion percentage. A key ability he can look to lean on as well, as the rookie looks for his second ever career win as a new ambassador.
