The Oklahoma City Thunder set a new NBA record by outscoring teams by 12.9 points per game this season on their way to a 68-14 record.
The previous record was held by the Lakers, who outscored opponents by 12.3 points during the 1971-72 season.
The Thunder outscored opponents by 1,055 points in total.
“We’ve got a young team and I think it’s important for them to understand some of the things we’ve accomplished,” Mark Daigneault said. “Franchise record for wins is a great accomplishment. Some of the other things we’ve accomplished together are great accomplishments. We don’t take them lightly.”
The Thunder are the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
