Manchester United have already identified Thomas Frank as Ruben Amorim’s potential replacement, as per reports.

It is one year since INEOS’s investment in United and it is not far-fetched to say the Red Devils have regressed over the last 12 months under their leadership.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company have made many mistakes, not least their abysmal managerial decision and squad planning.

United slumped to their worst-ever finish in the Premier League era under Erik ten Hag and still the club’s hierarchy kept him at the helm for another campaign.

After a disastrous start to the season, INEOS finally acted and sacked Ten Hag before replacing him with Ruben Amorim. Instead of experiencing the honeymoon period under Amorim, the Mancunians have appeared worse in his early days at Old Trafford.

There are already question marks over Amorim’s long term future in Manchester. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are exploring the market to find his possible replacement.

Now, Fichajes are reporting that United have set their sights on a potential successor.

According to the Spanish outlet, the United board are starting to question Amorim’s calibre to lead the side and are already considering an alternative.

It is understood Frank “could take the reins” if United don’t improve in the coming days.

The Brentford manager was one of the options United considered before appointing the ex-Sporting CP boss.

In a separate report it is claimed that Dan Ashworth wanted the Bees boss to become United’s next manager after Ten Hag. The key figures at the club went with Amorim and soon after Ashworth left his role as the club’s sporting director.

It remains unclear if the managerial decision led to the ex-Newcastle United man’s exit but his swift departure has only underlined INEOS’s incompetence.
