The clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) is turning out to be a high-octane run-fest at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first, PBKS posted a massive total of 245 runs in their 20 overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer led from the front, hammering a blistering 82 off just 36 deliveries, while the rest of the batting unit chipped in effectively to push the total well beyond the 240 mark.
In response, SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma came out with an aggressive intent, tearing the PBKS bowling attack. The duo put the visitors under pressure right from the start.
Glenn Maxwell was introduced in the fifth over during the powerplay but was taken to the cleaners, conceding 16 runs in his first over, followed by 10 and 14 runs in his next two overs, respectively. Tensions flared in the middle when fellow Australians Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell got into a heated exchange, prompting Marcus Stoinis to step in and diffuse the situation.

Despite the brief on-field drama, SRH’s charge continued. Travis Head smashed 66 off 37 balls before falling to Yuzvendra Chahal, with Glenn Maxwell completing the catch. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma put on a show for the home crowd, racing to a century, remaining unbeaten on 107 off just 43 balls, studded with 11 fours and 7 sixes.
At the end of 14 overs, SRH stood strong at 186 for 1, needing 60 runs off the final 6 overs with Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen at the crease. The hosts are well on track for their second win of the 2025 IPL season, much to the delight of the Hyderabad.
