Tatiana Suarez entered the UFC 312 co-main event title fight in Sydney, Australia against champion Zhang Weili with an undefeated record and a plan to win UFC gold.

She won the first round on all three judges’ scorecard but Weili changed the momentum in the second frame and carried it to a dominating unanimous decision win.  During the fight, Suarez suffered a large laceration on her knee from the cage during a grappling exchange.

Suarez asked her corner how bad the cut was during the bout but would not look at it herself.  On Tuesday, Suarez posted a photo of her stitch-repaired knee and it was graphic.  It also revealed just how large of a cut it was.

Earlier on Tuesday, Suarez released her first statement following the UFC 312 loss to Weili.  Despite the high-profile defeat, Suarez stated she’s exactly where she wants to be doing what she loves to do.

“Champions don’t show up to get everything they want; they show up to give everything they have.” And that’s what I’ll do every single time. No matter what! I love it all. Win, lose or draw, I’m right where I want to be. Doing what I love to do every single day of my life,” she wrote on Instagram.
