Scotland suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Greece in the Nations League, confirming their relegation to League B.

The visitors took the lead early in the 20th minute when Giannis Konstantelias fired home a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner after a well-timed cross from Georgios Vagiannidis.

Greece doubled their advantage just before half-time in the 42nd minute.

Konstantinos Karetsas found space in the box and curled a left-footed effort into the top left corner, leaving the Scotland goalkeeper helpless.

Once again, Konstantelias was involved, providing the assist and further highlighting Greece’s sharp attacking play.

The second half started much like the first, with Greece continuing to dominate possession and threaten in the final third.

Within a minute of the restart, Christos Tzolis sealed the victory for the visitors with a well-placed right-footed finish from the centre of the box, following another assist from the outstanding Konstantelias.

At 3-0, the match was effectively beyond Scotland’s reach.

Scotland struggled to create meaningful chances despite a few late efforts. Kieran Tierney’s left-footed shot in stoppage time was well saved, epitomising Scotland’s frustrating night in front of goal.

Earlier, George Hirst had missed a close-range header, while Tommy Conway and Scott McTominay saw their attempts blocked or comfortably saved.

There were a host of substitutions in the second half, with Scotland making changes in an attempt to turn things around.

Discipline was also an issue for both teams, with several yellow cards being handed out. Lewis Ferguson, George Hirst, and Vangelis Pavlidis were among those booked in a match that saw its fair share of fouls and interruptions.

Greece’s solid defensive organisation ensured Scotland never found a way back into the game. The visitors controlled the midfield and limited the hosts to speculative efforts from distance.

Despite late attempts to salvage some pride, Scotland’s night ended in disappointment as Greece comfortably saw out their 3-0 victory.
