Summer League Standouts: Day 3 and 4

Jayson Tatum Actively Recruiting Damian Lillard To Celtics

We’ll track the top performers each day from the 2K26 NBA Summer League, beginning July 10 in Las Vegas.

The first weekend of NBA Summer League, an ever-important stretch on the summer basketball calendar, is officially complete. There is still another week of action at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV, but the front office and media bigwigs are all headed back to their respective home bases. The top prospects are starting to get shut down for the summer, too. That includes No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg, the first player we highlight on the Day 3 and 4 standouts list.

Saturday, July 12

Cooper Flagg, Dallas Mavericks

After a Summer League debut that Flagg called “one of the worst games he’s ever played”, the No. 1 overall pick responded by scoring 31 points in the Mavericks’ 76-69 loss to the Spurs on Saturday. Flagg’s night included a couple of highlight reel slam dunks and a 3-of-9 clip from 3-point range. Flagg made 10 of 21 attempts from the field overall, finishing with the most points in an NBA Summer League by a No. 1 overall pick since John Wall also scored 31 in 2010.

Devin Carter, Sacramento Kings

Carter put together the most clinical shooting performance at this year’s Summer League so far with an efficient 30-point outing in the Kings’ 109-92 win against the Bulls on Saturday. Carter shot 10 of 13 from the field, making 5 of 7 attempts from 3-point range. The 23-year-old Providence product scored 21 points in the first half, creating his own shot effectively from beyond the arc and displaying the ability to finish at the rim if need be.

Nae’Qwon Tomlin, Cleveland Cavaliers

Tomlin is now a two-time BIL Summer League standout after following up his 30-point performance on opening day with a 22-point, 13-rebound performance in the Cavaliers’ 93-83 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. His second gaudy statline in as many outings may very well make him the frontrunner for Summer League MVP, especially considering the fact a few of his biggest challengers are being deactivated. Tomlin made 9 of 12 attempts from the field on Saturday and is 21 of 28 from the field total through two games.

Sunday, July 13

Drew Timme, Brooklyn Nets

Timme significantly improved his chances of becoming a full-time NBA player next season with an entertaining 30-point performance in the Nets’ 102-96 loss to the Washington Wizards. Timme was the centerpiece of the offense, finishing 13-of-24 from the field overall (2 of 7 from 3-point range). Timme also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.

Charles Bassey, Boston Celtics

Some players may be flustered with a bench role on a stage where every minute of playing time could drastically affect their future, but no bench player has excelled in their role quite like Boston’s Charles Bassey on Sunday. Bassey tallied 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed 13 rebounds, finishing with a +/- of +19 in the Celtics’ 94-81 win over the New York Knicks. New York’s Kevin McCuller also scored 30 points in that game, but he misses out on a standout player nod because of the number of free throws he took to get there.
