“Having Sophie lead them out tomorrow will fill the staff with confidence,” New Zealand head coach Ben Sawyer mentioned. “Sophie is at all times going to be a giant miss each time she is unavailable so we’re delighted to have the ability to carry her again.”

In the meantime, opening batter Bernadine Bezuidenhout has been dominated out of Sunday’s match after pulling her hamstring whereas fielding throughout the first innings of the second ODI. Bezuidenhout didn’t come out to bat throughout New Zealand’s unsuccessful chase of 253.

Later, a scan revealed a grade 1 hamstring pressure that can require “a brief interval of rehabilitation”, New Zealand Cricket mentioned in a launch.

“We’re dissatisfied for Bernie, who’s already confronted her fair proportion of damage challenges this summer season,” Sawyer mentioned. “We’re hoping she is going to make a fast restoration as we stay up for a busy winter of cricket.”

England lead the three-match sequence 2-0.
