Son of Falcons coach behind Shedeur Sanders prank call

The biggest story of the 2025 NFL Draft was the slide of quarterback Shedeur Sanders, all the way down to the fifth round, where he was finally selected by the Cleveland Browns. The subplot to that story was a Day 2 prank phone call where unknown callers pretended to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, telling Sanders he had been chose at the top of the second round.

Obviously, it was not Loomis; Sanders was not selected, and he had to wait until well into day three before getting a real phone call from the Browns.

It was such a confusing story because Sanders was using a phone number that was only known by the 32 NFL teams and the league. For somebody to get that number it would have had to be that was either somebody in the league with a team, or somebody that had a connection to the league.

As it turns out, it was the latter.

The Atlanta Falcons issued a statement on Sunday saying that Jax Ulbrich, the 21-year-old son of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, was one of the people behind the prank call and the one who acquired the number.

The Falcons insist their coach had nothing to do with it, and that his son got the number when he saw it on an open iPad.
