This isn’t just another golf course. This is SentryWorld. And if you haven’t been yet, here’s why it deserves a spot at the top of your bucket list.

Let’s start with the bones. SentryWorld Golf Course was co-designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Bruce Charlton, and Jay Blasi, and you can tell. It’s got the pedigree of a championship course but the hospitality of your favorite hometown track. Opened in 1982 and reimagined in 2013, it’s classic and modern all at once – wide fairways, dramatic bunkering, and greens that test without tormenting. Each hole feels like it has a story to tell. And none of them whisper.

Set against the backdrop of Wisconsin’s natural beauty, with towering pines, shimmering lakes, and the famous Flower Hole in full bloom, SentryWorld isn’t just played; it’s experienced.

There are signature holes – and then there’s the Flower Hole at SentryWorld. If you’ve ever been impressed by the blooms at the Masters, wait until you see the 16th: a par-3 wrapped in a blanket of more than 50,000 flowers. It’s one of the most Instagrammable holes in all of golf, and Robert Trent Jones Jr. fittingly calls it his “Mona Lisa.”

But this hole isn’t just for show. Measuring 204 yards from the tips and 95 yards from the forward tees, the Flower Hole is playable for everyone. A well-struck tee shot to the center of the green will set up a good look at birdie no matter where the pin is. Just don’t get too distracted by the scenery – and if your ball finds the flowers, don’t worry. Local rules allow for a free drop; after all, you don’t want to trample the masterpiece.

In 2023, SentryWorld hosted the U.S. Senior Open, earning its place among America’s premier tournament venues. But don’t let that intimidate you. SentryWorld strikes a rare balance – challenging scratch players while remaining welcoming and playable for higher handicappers. Wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and thoughtful design make it a course that rewards good golf without punishing the occasional mistake. It’s championship-caliber, yet remarkably accessible.

SentryWorld Golf Course: Stay, Eat, Repeat

If you’re making the trip, consider staying on-site at The Inn at SentryWorld. The Inn offers a blend of modern comfort and understated style, creating a relaxing retreat just steps from the course. And after a day on the links, a meal at PJ’s, SentryWorld’s 19th hole, is a must. From locally inspired dishes to craft cocktails, the dining experience is every bit as memorable as your round.

Wake up the next morning refreshed and ready to play again, with the first tee just outside your door.

SentryWorld isn’t just a place to play – it’s a place to stay, savor, and experience. It’s where Midwest hospitality meets world-class golf, and every round leaves you wanting just one more hole.

If you’re searching for your next golf getaway, don’t overlook the heart of Wisconsin. Stevens Point is ready to welcome you.
