Former bantamweight titleholder Sean O’Malley underwent surgical procedure to restore a torn labrum in his left hip following his UFC 306 championship loss to Merab Dvalishvili.  He had the process finished within the first week of October and is already again within the fitness center.  

O’Malley revealed that he is again to restricted coaching on his YouTube channel.  Nonetheless weeks away from having the ability to grapple, O’Malley does what he can.  

“Excellent news is ‘Suga’ Sean is again to coaching,” O’Malley’s coach Tim Welch stated on the Timbo-Sugar Present.  “We obtained into some mitts, some mild sparring.”

“I am unable to wrestle but.  I can transfer round.  I can hit mitts somewhat bit.  I can f**king shadow field, field, spar somewhat bit.  (I) cannot grapple in any respect, but.  (I am) most likely about three weeks out from having the ability to begin drilling,” O’Malley stated.  “Hitting mitts, shifting round is not any a difficulty.  It is the grappling and sh*t that hurts.”

Sean O’Malley uncertain of return timeframe

The 30-year outdated former champion is hoping for a return to the octagon within the first quarter of 2025.  Eying April, it is until up within the air when O’Malley shall be able to compete once more.    

“I am like three, 4 weeks out from having the ability to begin drilling.  As soon as I begin drilling, I really feel like I can go to the UFC and have a timeline,” O’Malley stated.  “I am nonetheless pondering April may make sense, so we’ll see.”
