Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s first Pro Bowl was his last…
As a quarterback.
In Sunday’s Pro Bowl Games flag football competition, the second-year Seattle Seahawks wide receiver was given a chance to play quarterback.
It did not go well.
Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Pittsburgh Steelers took JSN’s pass back for a touchdown. This is a far cry from when Smith-Njigba hit DK Metcalf for a 35-yard gain on his lone pass attempt in a Seahawks game.
JSN’s experience playing quarterback was enough to drive him into retirement.
Wait a minute. RETIREMENT?! Alright, before I have to get the defibrillators out, here’s the follow-up tweet.
The Pro Bowl ain’t exactly appointment viewing these days, so hearts were in mouths off of the initial social media post.
Maybe this is the hint to Klint Kubiak that JSN will not be the emergency third quarterback or someone you want to have throwing the ball on trick plays any time soon. Even that throw to Metcalf was probably not a great decision but DK made a fantastic grab.
JSN did catch a touchdown pass, which is something we’d much rather see him do.
