Ruben Amorim told he got it wrong with Marcus Rashford

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim looks like he surely made a mistake by not giving Marcus Rashford more of a chance this season.

The England international was frozen out of Amorim’s Man Utd squad on a few occasions before being shipped out on loan to Aston Villa in January.

It looked like this would surely be the end of Rashford’s Old Trafford career after a significant dip in form over the last year or two, but he now looks back to his best at Villa.

Unai Emery has done well to get Rashford performing again, and pundit Daniel Sturridge believes he’s proven all his critics wrong.

See below as the former Liverpool striker discusses Rashford’s impressive response to the narrative that had been set by Amorim…

Rashford looks like he’d be an exciting permanent signing for Villa, but it remains to be seen if this revival could see him win back his place at United.

Does Marcus Rashford still have a future at Manchester United?

It would perhaps make sense for Amorim to take another look at Rashford in pre-season and give him a fresh start, but at the same time it’s perhaps also hard to see that happening.

Quite simply, the Portuguese tactician will have his own ideas about how he wants this squad to look after inheriting a struggling side from Erik ten Hag.

Even if Rashford has something to offer, it would arguably make more sense for Amorim to stick with his decision here and to try to build something different with this MUFC squad.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager has his very specific tactical ideas, and he needs to be able to select the players who fit that philosophy perfectly.

Rashford probably isn’t quite suited to Amorim’s style, which is why he was singled out so quickly as someone who couldn’t even make the bench on multiple occasions before being loaned out.
