We’d love to give you more updates on the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator search, but with little information to work with, clearly the play here is to focus on whether or not former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will get another head coaching job.

Carroll has interviewed with the Chicago Bears (who’ve since hired Ben Johnson from the Detroit Lions) and Las Vegas Raiders (who’ve not hired anyone yet). We can add the Dallas Cowboys to the list of reported teams showing interest in Carroll, albeit with no formal interview.

From the Fort-Worth Star-Telegram:

The Star-Telegram has confirmed that Jones has contacted former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll regarding the opening. The conversation has been described as informal, although the interest is legitimate enough to be reported, according to a source.

The Cowboys reportedly could make former Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer their next head coach, keeping things in-house after moving on from McCarthy.

Unlike the Raiders, who are in rebuild mode and don’t have a long-term answer at quarterback, the Cowboys at least have Dak Prescott after he returns from injury next season. There’s enough talent on Dallas to be competitive when they’re healthy. It’s the whole “working under Jerry Jones” part of this story I can’t imagine Carroll agreeing to.

Let’s see if the Cowboys are actually serious about Carroll or if Jerry looks to promote Schottenheimer… or maybe hire Jason Witten, who knows with that franchise?
