Trap fight?
Controversial, outspoken Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight Bryce Mitchell puts his No. 13 ranking on the line against red-hot surging prospect Jean Silva at UFC 314, which is set to go down inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on Sat., April 12, 2025.
Surprisingly or not surprisingly, Silva is a heavy betting favorite over Mitchell.
When the fight was announced a couple of weeks ago, Silva opened as a -450 favorite, and the comeback on Mitchell was +350.
Now that the dust has settled a bit, the odds as of this writing are Silva (-375) and Mitchell (+295).
With the fight a month away, I’m sure the odds are going to keep dwindling because while Silva is on an incredible run right now, the fact of the matter is that Mitchell is a really good fighter.
Yeah, he might be an Adolf Hitler apologist, a dumb flat-earther, and a non-seatbelt enthusiast, but the dude can fight and is a much better grappler than Silva.
If Charles Jourdain can take Silva down and control him (he landed three takedowns), what is “Thug Nasty” going to do?
Sure, Jourdain eventually got starched (watch highlights), and Mitchell got obliterated by Josh Emmett in 2023, but all in all, this is much closer than the odds are portraying at the moment.
And in no world should Silva be a 3 to 1-favorite over Mitchell.
