After months of heavy speculation, according to several sources, Real Madrid have reached an agreement over personal terms with the representatives of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is now set to join Los Blancos when his contract at Liverpool expires at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old’s departure from his boyhood club as a free agent, at a moment where the Merseysiders compete for several trophies each season, would certainly represent a huge disappointment for the Anfield faithful, but Liverpool have faced such setbacks before and usually came back flying.
The Premier League leaders have long been aware of this possibility, of course, and will have planned for it accordingly. It seems they’ve now been informed of the player’s decision.
Alexander-Arnold is currently out of action with an ankle injury and isn’t expected to return for another month. Providing he has indeed agreed to join Real, any potential setbacks on his road to recovery could well mean his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt is a thing of the past already.
