Real Madrid have emerged as frontrunners in the pursuit of Dean Huijsen, edging out Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United for the Bournemouth defensive sensation. According to AS via SportWitness, Los Blancos hold a crucial advantage over their Premier League rivals, making them the likeliest destination for the highly-rated centre-back.

Huijsen’s Rise to Stardom

The 19-year-old initially developed at Juventus, but his career truly took off after moving to Bournemouth last summer. Since then, Huijsen has been a revelation in the Premier League, making 27 appearances and scoring twice. His standout performances have put him on the radar of Europe’s elite clubs, with his €50 million release clause making him an attainable summer target.

Premier League Giants in the Race

Chelsea: Enzo Maresca is keen on adding more young talents, and Huijsen fits the club’s long-term vision.
Liverpool: With Virgil van Dijk’s contract running down and Ibrahima Konaté’s future uncertain, the Reds need defensive reinforcements.
Manchester United: Rúben Amorim is looking to revamp his squad, and Huijsen’s talent makes him a prime target.

Real Madrid Hold the Upper Hand

While Premier League interest is strong, Real Madrid seem to have the biggest advantage in this transfer saga. Huijsen, who recently made his debut for Spain, is reportedly a lifelong fan of Los Blancos. His decision to represent Spain over the Netherlands was reportedly influenced by his dream of playing at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Initially, Real Madrid were planning a 2026 move, but the growing competition has forced them to accelerate their plans. They are now pushing for a summer 2025 transfer, hoping Huijsen himself will publicly express his desire to join, making negotiations smoother.

My Opinion

If Huijsen truly dreams of playing for Real Madrid, it’s hard to see any Premier League club convincing him otherwise. Los Blancos offer an unmatched platform for young talents, and with Carlo Ancelotti’s side always looking to build for the future, this move makes perfect sense. However, with Chelsea and Liverpool desperate for defensive reinforcements, don’t rule out a late twist in this transfer saga.
