The Los Angeles Rams kicked off the 2025 NFL Draft by making a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, moving down from No. 26 in the first round to No. 46 while swapping some other assets as well.
That trade set the Rams up to have multiple first round picks in 2026 while also getting into the second round this year. They previously did not have a second rounder as they traded it to move up to draft Braden Fiske last year.
So after the trade with the Falcons, the Rams were left with two picks on day two, No. 46 in the second round and No. 90 in the third round.
With their first pick of the draft in the second round, the Rams took tight end Terrance Ferguson out of Oregon.
As Tyler Higbee heads into the final year of his contract, tight end was a clear need for the Rams and they wasted no time addressing it with their first pick.
Ferguson played four years at Oregon and hauled in 134 receptions for 1,537 yards and 16 touchdowns. In his senior season, he had 43 catches for 591 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-5, 247-pounder is Oregon’s all-time receptions and touchdown leader for tight ends and joins a Rams group that includes Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen.
The Rams’ second pick of the night came at No. 90 overall in the third round and they went with Michigan edge rusher Josiah Stewart. He played four college seasons, two at Coastal Carolina and two with the Wolverines and totaled 150 tackles and 30 sacks in 51 career games.
Stewart’s senior season included 33 tackles, 8.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in 11 games for Michigan. He joins a young and talented defensive line that includes Jared Verse and Byron Young coming off the edge. With the departure of Michael Hoecht in free agency, Stewart should get some opportunities from the jump as a rotational pass rusher if he has an impressive camp.
The Rams have typically done very well on day two of the draft, so it will be interesting to see if that will be the case again with Ferguson and Stewart, who fill needs on both sides of the ball.
