The Los Angeles Dodgers have always had a cinematic-like quality to what they do on the diamond.

Japan seems to agree as over 150 movie theaters will be streaming the Dodgers’ opening series against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo on March 18 and 19.

Per Front Office Sports’ Eric Fisher, the games will also be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in Japan.

Despite the World Series being at 9 a.m. local time in Japan, Games 1 and 2 set records for the most-watched MLB postseason games in Japan’s history. Now that the opening series will be on at primetime for Japan (7 p.m.), there is no telling what kind of viewership the event will pull.

The Dodgers have a few core pieces hailing from Japan in manager Dave Roberts, reigning National League MVP Shohei Ohtani, Game 1 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Game 2 starter Roki Sasaki. The Cubs will start their season with Japan-born Shota Imanaga on the mound and Seiya Suziki in the outfield, who grew up about 15 minutes from the Tokyo Dome.

Japan isn’t stopping at movie theaters as Fisher noted that there will be a few fan experiences around Tokyo as well, including a three-story attraction at the infamous Shibuya commercial center.

There will also be an attraction dedicated to the 2024 World series champions as items from Ohtani’s season becoming the first player to hit 50 or more home runs and steal 50 or more bases will be on display.

The growth that the Dodgers seem to just be at the beginning of is remarkable when seeing the global influence this team has. The next generation of MLB will be exciting to watch, and the kind of talent that L.A. has will be just as enticing.

Sasaki has received incredibly high praise with just his Nippon Professional Baseball resume and spring training statistics, but his MLB career will officially begin during the second game of the MLB Tokyo Series.
