Only team in Serie A: Milan’s Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Joao Felix, and Santiago Gimenez bring 1 million fans to San Siro this season

It has been a season of highs and lows for Milan, but one thing remains constant—the club’s fans continue to fill San Siro in record numbers. While on the pitch, the Rossoneri struggle to secure a Champions League spot, off the field, they lead all of Serie A in attendance.

With Christian Pulisic, Joao Felix, Rafael Leao, and Santiago Gimenez trying to reignite Milan’s campaign, the club has officially surpassed one million total spectators at San Siro for the 2024-25 season. This has reportedly solidified their status as the only Serie A team to accomplish this feat.

Coming into the season, the Rossoneri’s ambition was clear—fight for the Scudetto. However, reality has been far less kind. At one point, they were 11 points behind their top-four rivals, and while a recent upturn in form has reduced the gap to six points, the battle for a UEFA Champions League spot remains an uphill struggle.

Sergio Conceicao’s players currently sit in ninth place, trailing Bologna, Juventus, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Roma in the race for a top-four finish. Their early elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Feyenoord only added to the frustration among the fans. Despite this, the Rossoneri faithful continue to show up in massive numbers, proving once again that Milan’s support extends far beyond the team’s performances on the pitch.

San Siro: The heartbeat of Milan

While results have been inconsistent, Milan’s home stadium has been anything but empty. According to Calciomercato, the Rossoneri lead Serie A in average attendance, with an astonishing 71,591 fans per game. This puts them ahead of their city rivals, Inter (69,794), and Roma (61,973).

Moreover, the Red and Blacks are the only team in the league to surpass one million total spectators for the season, reaching 1,073,864 across 15 home games, as per Transfermarkt. This remarkable feat underscores the loyalty and passion of the Milanisti, even in a season that has fallen short of expectations. The club’s massive home crowds have even outpaced Inter, although both teams share San Siro, Italy’s largest stadium.

Ultras’ mixed signals: Protest and passion

The Curva Sud, Milan’s most passionate ultras supporter group, has not remained silent about the team’s struggles. During the team’s Serie A match against Como, they voiced their frustration with banners and chants, expressing their dissatisfaction with the team’s performances.

However, despite their protests, they continue to pack the stadium, showing that their frustration does not equate to abandonment. Instead, it is a demand for higher standards and a return to Milan’s glory days.
