One step closer to eighth Wimbledon title – Novak is through to another semi-final.
Novak Djokovic is through to the semi-finals at Wimbledon after beating 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli in four sets, 6-7 (6), 6-2, 7-5, 6-4.
The match lasted three hours and 11 minutes.
Novak had chances to break Cobolli’s serve early in the match but missed them. He eventually broke in the eighth game, but the young Italian broke right back, without losing a single point. The Serbian star had a set point at 5-4, but Cobolli played bravely and pushed the set to a tie-break. It was a close contest, Novak came back from 2-5 down and saved one set point, but Cobolli hit a strong serve to take the first set.
Djokovic quickly responded, needing just 25 minutes to win the second set and level the match. He raised his game in the third and fourth sets, playing at a very high level and finishing the match strong to reach his 52nd Grand Slam semi-final.
Match statistics: aces (13-13), double faults (2-4), winners (39-51), unforced errors (22-44), total points won (142-116).
With this win, Novak is into his 14th Wimbledon semis, where he’ll face world no.1 Jannik Sinner.
