2025 NFL draft: Best rookie team fits, perfect landing spots

Welcome to this year’s Mock Simulation Series! Each week, I will run a simulation of the 2025 NFL draft using the Pro Football Focus Draft Simulator.

Round 1, Pick 32 (for the Super Bowl Winner): Colston Loveland, Tight End, Michigan

I now strongly believe one of the Eagles first two picks will be a tight end. If they hang around at 32, Colston Loveland makes a ton of sense for the offense. Loveland’s skill as a receiver would immediately make him one of the top three targets in the passing game.

Round 2, Pick 64: Josaiah Stewart, Edge Defender, Michigan

It only makes sense that the Eagles draft another undersized Michigan edge rusher after Brandon Graham retires. Josaiah Stewart is such a great pass rusher, he could make his entire NFL career as a third down specialist. If he can develop his game anymore into being a stronger run defender, the Eagles would have a steal on their hands.

Round 3, Pick 96: Andrew Mukuba, Defensive Back, Texas

Round three feels like a steal for Andrew Mukuba. Yes he is a bit small, but he has great instincts and excellent athleticism. Losing CJ Gardner Johnson leaves a big hole in the Eagles secondary. Mukuba could play free safety and drop down into the slot if necessary.

Round 4, Pick 134: Chase Lundt, Offensive Tackle, Connecticut

The Eagles are destined to take at least one offensive lineman at some point in this draft. Chase Lundt feels like a good bet for the mid rounds. Lundt has an enormous build at 6’8” with long arms. He is a bit light, but would be a great developmental project for Stoutland University.

Round 5, Pick 161: Nick Nash, Wide Receiver, San Jose State

The Eagles could go high for a receiver in this class, but drafting a pass catching tight end at 32 makes the need less pressing. Nick Nash is a great technician at receiver and would add a new skill set to the younger end of the depth chart for Philly. Given the amount of snaps Johnny Wilson saw as a rookie in 2024, Nick Nash could push for legit playing time.

Round 5, Pick 164: Denzel Burke, Cornerback, Ohio State

The loss of Darius Slay opens up a big hole across the field from Quinyon Mitchell. With Cooper DeJean doing his best work in the slot, the Eagles will probably draft another cornerback to compete with Kelee Ringo for the CB2 spot. Denzel Burke has the size and athleticism to play well at cornerback. Inconsistent play at Ohio State suggests he needs good coaching, but the talent is very much there.

Round 5, Pick 165: Connor Colby, Guard, Iowa

Another big bodied offensive lineman that gives the Eagles some depth at guard.

Round 5 Pick, Pick 168: Tonka Hemingway, Defensive Line, South Carolina

This will be a trenches draft for the Eagles and it’s a good class to need to reload on the big boys. Tonka Hemingway is an adept pass rushing interior lineman that could rotate in with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo.
