The 2025 NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET tonight, marking the start of a three-day process in which all 32 teams will turn college prospects into NFL rookies. Mock drafts, rumors, analysis, and guesses will be made about what each team will do, what their top needs are, and where trades might be made. It will be a fun day, and fun weekend, with everything that happens.
Before we get to the start of the Draft, it is time to take a look at the Miami Dolphins’ current depth chart and where they have their biggest needs. We also take a look at the latest odds from our partners at FanDuel sportsbook, seeing where they think the Dolphins might use their first pick tonight.
Miami Dolphins 2025 depth chart (pre-Draft)
Quarterback (2)
Tua TagovailoaZach Wilson
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +5000
This is clearly an area Miami could address over the weekend, but it does not feel like it is a first-round type of move for the team. Adding a developmental quarterback to serve as the third-string option this season would likely be the best move for the team. If the Dolphins do not add a rookie, a free agent addition could be on the table.
Running back (4)
De’Von AchaneAlexander MattisonJaylen WrightAlec Ingold (Fullback)
Odds of first Dolphins pick: Off board
If the Dolphins are going to take a running back this year, it is going to likely be a flyer later in the Draft as they look for someone who can be a special teams player and provide depth. Unless someone drastically falls, this position seems fairly well set at the top of the chart – unless Miami throws a curveball of switching Achane to being primarily a wide receiver, opening a running back spot on the depth chart.
Wide receiver (8)
Tyreek HillJaylen WaddleMalik WashingtonNick Westbrook-IkhineDee EskridgeErik EzukanmaTahj WashingtonTarik Black
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +3000
This only becomes a consideration tonight if the Dolphins pull off a blockbuster trade of Hill and add a first-round pick. Even if Hill were to be traded – which does not seem likely but is possible – the Dolphins could look to add a free agent over selecting an early prospect. The move of Achane to wide receiver could be on the table, and the expectation of Waddle to bounce back after a down season last year makes this feel like a pretty solid grouping at this point. A mid-round addition cannot be ruled out, especially if they have special teams potential, but do not expect anything early at wide receiver.
Tight end (5)
Jonnu SmithPharahaoh BrownJulian HillTanner ConnerHayden Rucci
Odds of first Dolphins pick: Off board
This could be a surprise target for the Dolphins during the Draft, though Smith looked more than capable of continuing to lead the position group in 2025. If there is a dynamic tight end who falls to the Dolphins on Day 2 of the Draft, a pick here could be a possibility. Julian Hill’s roster spot is the biggest question mark of the group. Brown’s addition this year as a blocking tight end who can provide an emergency outlet for Tagovailoa would appear to solidify this position group.
Offensive line (13*)

*Note: Terron Armstead is still on the roster officially, though he has announced his retirement. The transaction has not been processed into the league office as of Thursday morning.
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +125
The favorite for the oddsmakers is likely the favorite for the fans as well. The Dolphins need to address the offensive line, and they could very well do it in the first round tonight. Guards are not typically a high draft pick, but it is a glaring need for Miami and adding a tackle they can move in to guard might be the best move they can make, providing an insurance policy if second-year left tackle Paul does not reach his full potential. Miami may skip this position with the plan to address it in the middle rounds, but offensive line will be on the board throughout the three-day process.
Defensive line (4)
Zach SielerBenito JonesMatt DickersonNeil Farrell
Odds of Dolphins first pick: +250
The second betting favorite in terms of odds, this could very well be the first pick Miami makes just based on how the board may fall. With just four defensive linemen on the roster – even with the majority of the edge rusher being listed as linebackers – Miami needs to add a starter in place of Dickerson and several depth players. A true stud nose tackle might be on the agenda as well.
Linebackers (15)
Edge:
Jalean PhillipsBradley ChubbChop RobinsonMohamed KamaraQuinton BellCameron GoodeGrayson MurphyDerrick McLendonWilliam Bradley-King
Inside:
Jordyn BrooksTyrel DodsonK.J. BrittWillie GayChanning TindallDequan Jackson
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +250 (Edge)
This is another position where the Dolphins are likely only going to make a move if a big prospect falls to them. The edge rushers are probably set with Phillips, Chubb, and Robinson leading the way. The inside linebackers could become a depth pick later in the draft process.
Cornerback (9)
Jalen RamseyKader KohouStorm DuckArtie BurnsEthan BonnerCam SmithJason MaitreRyan Cooper, Jr.Isaiah Johnson
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +300
The secondary is going to be a primary focal point for the Dolphins this year, with needs at both cornerback and safety. Adding a cornerback early in the draft process seems like a move the team will make, especially with the possibility of Ramsey being traded. Expect the team to add a top-tier cornerback in the first or second round.
Safety (5)
Ashtyn DavisElijah CampbellIfeatu MelifonwuPatrick McMorrisJordan Colbert
Odds of first Dolphins pick: +600
Several mock drafts have had the Dolphins using their first pick on a safety, but that seems to be falling out of favor as the projections look to offensive line or defensive line. That said, safety could still be the move for Miami, adding a top-level ball hawk to the secondary to replace Jevon Holland, who left in free agency. The Dolphins have a history in recent years of drafting a safety early, then trading him or letting him leave in free agency. That tradition could be on the board again this year. Miami may look to address one of either cornerback or safety early in the draft, then pick up the other a couple of rounds later.
Special Teams (4)
Kicker: Jason SandersPunter: Jake Bailey, Ryan StonehouseLong snapper: Blake Ferguson
Odds of first Dolphins pick: Off board
There does not seem to be any need or desire for Miami to address any of these positions in the Draft this year. If anything, an undrafted free agent could be brought in after the selection process.
