The World of cricket came together as New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon was seen playing the game on the streets of India with former India legend Kapil Dev along with some other New Zealand cricket stars as well. The Prime Minister seemed excited to test his skills in front of the legends.
The New Zealand Prime Minister had arrived in India and met the 1983 World Cup winner and also brought legendary Kiwi batter Ross Taylor and star spinner Ajaz Patel along with him in the game of street cricket. What surprised cricketers was the amount of skill Luxon possessed where he was seen taking catches and playing some explosive shots. Three of the cricketing legends were praising his energy and prowess. Luxon had also commented on social media on the game expressing his joy of playing the game among the legends and some energetic kids.
“Working hard in India to hit it out of the park for Kiwis,” Luxon commented on Instagram about the Street Cricket game with the legends.

Speaking about the achievements of the other two cricketing legends apart from Kapil, Ross Taylor is still among the top run scorers for New Zealand in international cricket with over 18000 runs in the format. Ajaz Patel is also known to be only the third player in international cricket to take 10 wickets in an innings. Patel has taken 85 wickets in 21 Test matches and was the highest Kiwi wicket-taker in the series against India where he took 15 wickets.
This was one of the iconic series for the BlackCaps who whitewashed the Indian team at home after 17 years. Patel was also the player of the match in the last game at the Wankhede Stadium where he took 11 wickets in the game with figures of 5/103 in the first innings and 6/57 in the second innings.
