Report — Rory McIlroy driver deemed nonconforming ahead of PGA

Nine highly forgiving models engineered with a face insert influenced by athletic-shoe technology comprise the new Scottsdale putter family, PING CEO & President John K. Solheim announced today.

The Scottsdale Craz-E, Prime Tyne 4, Prime Tyne C, Oslo 3, Anser, Anser 2D, Anser 4, B63 and DS72 are available for pre-order at PING authorised retailers around the world beginning today. The MSRP for each putter excluding Craz-E CB is £250, the Craz-E CB putter’s MSRP is £275. A SuperStroke grip is standard on all models.

The company also introduced the WebFit Putter app, a web-based fitting tool engineered in-house to help golfers find the PING putter that best fits their game. Similar to the popular WebFit Wedge app launched last year, it’s a quick and easy experience to help golfers find a PING putter that will greatly improve their performance on the greens.

“The Scottsdale name has a special meaning to PING, dating back to the early days of the company in my grandfather Karsten Solheim’s garage, where his revolutionary ideas changed the equipment industry,” said Solheim.

“The new line of putters includes some of the highest- performing models in our history, like the standard-setting Anser, and the popular Craz-E model, which was ahead of its time more than 20 years ago with its unique shaping and alignment features.

The new insert technology applied to every model helps ensure a soft responsive feel, with the forgiveness and accuracy to sink more putts.

It’s a great-looking selection of putters, and with the introduction of the WebFit Putter app, finding a PING model to fit your game is easier than ever.”

“We’re also excited to collaborate with SuperStroke on the putter’s grip. Their Tour-proven grip technology adds even more value to the Scottsdale putter family.

It’s pistol shape and reduced taper help ensure performance by providing optimal feel and stability, leading to more confidence over every putt.”

Soft, Responsive Insert, Increased MOI

PEBAX elastomer, a material commonly used in the soles of athletic shoes for its elastic properties, is a lightweight, high-energy-return compound that delivers a soft yet responsive feel in the one-piece insert, leading to improved distance control and consistency.

Impact stability in every Scottsdale model is advanced because of the large face-insert cavities that allow weight savings to be re-distributed farther toward the perimeter to increase the MOI. Optimally placed CG positions help reduce skid and initiate forward roll.

“The combination of the softer insert and higher MOI in every model deliver the preferred feel and ball-speed control many golfers need to improve their consistency on the greens,” Solheim said. “In some of the models, the heads are slightly larger than previous versions to ensure even more forgiveness. We like to categorise these as game-improvement putters.”

Easy to Aim, Fit For Stroke

Every model features subtle color blocking between the top rail and back portion to draw focus to the front of the putter for better alignment. With various head sizes and shapes across the family, golfers can match a blade, mid-mallet or mallet to best suit their eye. The mid-length Craz-E CB build is 37.75” with a 17” SuperStroke grip. All three PING stroke types (Straight, Slight Arc, Strong Arc) and hosel styles are represented in the series to ensure a choice to fit every golfer.

“We continue to encourage golfers to take the time to get custom fit for their putters,” Solheim said. “From finding the best stroke type for your game to matching the putter’s look to your eye, a custom-fit putter can make a huge difference on the scorecard.”
