Nate Diaz isn’t looking for anybody to bow down to him. But at least show a little respect.
The UFC veteran, and former “BMF” title contender, popped off recently about the new generation of fighters constantly using his name to get some attention. Because Diaz remains one of the biggest names in the sport, he hears fighters taking unprovoked shots at him all the time, which is something he says he would never do to the fighters he revered coming up in the sport.
“You guys are all O.G.’s to me and now that I think about it, it’s only like three or four years ahead of me,” Diaz said to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson on the HJR podcast. “But now these fools that are like 10 years younger in the UFC after me or 12 years after me, and they’re like ‘Nate Diaz, you’re a bitch.’ I’m like why are you talking to me like that motherf*cker? Just all them fools.”
Diaz believes a lot of the guys coming after him are all talk and no action because he rarely gets that same energy from them once they come face-to-face. That’s how he knows for certain most of these callouts come down to attention-seeking behavior rather than anybody actually trying to pick a fight with him.
Two incidents in particular that stood out to Diaz were Bo Nickal and Justin Gaethje apparently taking aim at him without any provocation whatsoever. Diaz promises he didn’t have a problem with either one of them until they suddenly decided to start trouble with him.
“Like Justin Gaethje, when he came out,” Diaz said. “He got in the UFC in like 2016 or some shit. He’s like, ‘He’s a f*cking this and he’s that.’ I’m like, bro, not that I’m demanding respect or anything but why would I even acknowledge that? I should f*cking beat your ass when I see you.
“It’s wrestlers, that’s what it is. That Bo Nickal dude was talking to somebody about me, like dissing on me, and I’m like bitch, f*ck you. Why are you even putting my name in your mouth, you little bitch? Young ass motherf*ckers.”
Diaz says if these guys want to keep using his name to get attention, just make sure to remember those words when they finally meet him in person. The fighters talking trash might just consider it business as usual but for Diaz, it’s always personal.
“I’m with it though,” Diaz said. “Good but be about it [when you see me]. I’m like f*ck you, bitch and you’re like, ‘What are you talking about?’ I remember what you said.”
