It was confirmed last night that Naomi was the one who attacked Jade Cargill – and that’s a pretty interesting turn of events.
For the longest time now, Naomi has been teaming with Bianca Belair. So, given that Cargill’s injury opened up that spot for her, it only makes sense that she was the one who put her on he shelf. Now, there are some interesting options available for WWE.
Why? Firstly, because this opens up the door for a non-title women’s match at WrestleMania, which is something that rarely happens. Naomi vs Jade Cargill makes sense, and what makes even more sense is to give Naomi the opportunity to shine as a heel, which is a position she hasn’t been in for quite some time.
The segment itself between Naomi and Belair on SmackDown was fascinating – and it left the door open for Bianca to potentially be involved in the attack, which can be revealed down the road.
Naomi is ready to shine
Belair is busy with her world title match at WrestleMania for now, but in the immediate aftermath of that, a hot feud with Cargill – potentially stretching as far as SummerSlam – could do absolute wonders for the both of them. In that instance, they could even be competing for the championship.
In equal measure, WWE may want to stretch this storyline out even further. Maybe, they’ll reunite as a tag team for a while, with Naomi being given the opportunity to shine as a heel singles star.
There’s no limit to where this one can go and that is great news. WWE, and Triple H more specifically, was facing a great deal of criticism over their booking of their women’s roster – but they’re starting to put a pin in all of that. Hopefully, it continues as we carry on down the road to Las Vegas.
