Cormier: Makhachev’s plan to fight at 155 and 170 ‘a very hard thing’

Movsar Evloev is intrigued by the concept of a matchup with former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling.

After former bantamweight titleholder Sterling (24-4 MMA, 16-4 UFC) made a profitable featherweight debut at UFC 300 with a unanimous choice victory over Calvin Kattar, he talked about undefeated contender Evloev (18-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) as a possible subsequent struggle.

“I believe two grapplers, the best way we grapple, it could possibly be some very enjoyable scrambles,” Sterling stated on “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani earlier this week.

Evloev, who’s coming off a unanimous choice over Arnold Allen at UFC 297 in January and is in search of one other signature win to raise his standing and safe a title shot, was receptive to Sterling’s phrases.

He provided a response on social media, complimenting Sterling as “courageous” for calling for a problem that nobody thus far has handed.

“Courageous so that you can discuss me,” Evloev wrote on X. “I prefer it! Name UFC and struggle me. I’m prepared.”

Neither man shared a possible timeline for the matchup, but when it involves fruition, it might add additional depth to the 145-pound title image, which is trending towards a subsequent title struggle between Ilia Topuria and BMF champ Max Holloway.
