Monic Puig shared joyous news: She’s pregnant and expecting a baby daughter.

The 2016 Olympic gold-medal champion announced her pregnancy on social media today.

The 31-year-old Puig shared the happy news in this Instagram post. Puig and her husband, Nathan Rakitt, hold the sonogram of their baby girl while smiling at each other.

“So excited to jump into our most exciting adventure yet! Baby girl Rakitt coming Summer 2025,” Puig posted alongside a heart emoji.

Tennis fans will remember Puig made history for Puerto Rico at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

In an inspired run, Puig toppled No. 4 Garbine Muguruza and upset world No. 2 Angelique Kerber in the final to capture Puerto Rico’s first Olympic gold medal in history. The Pride of Puerto Rico, Puig’s emotional run to the gold set off a celebration across the island.

Since her retirement, Puig has returned to Puerto Rico many times to provide aid after Hurricane Maria devasted the island in September of 2017. Puig and Maria Sharapova flew to Puerto Rico delivering supplies and aid to her home island.

Puig has also run marathons, competed in triathalons and has played Legends events at Slams when she’s not busy working as a tennis television analyst.
