After a prolonged absence due to injury, fast bowler Mohammed Shami is set to rejoin the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against England, starting on January 22 in Kolkata. Shami, who last played for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, underwent ankle surgery and battled knee-related issues during his recovery period.

Shami’s Road to Recovery

Since returning to competitive cricket in November 2024, Shami has showcased his resilience and form. He featured in all nine of Bengal’s matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, claiming 11 wickets with an economy rate of 7.85. While he played fewer matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, his performances were commendable, with five wickets at an average of 25.80.
