Miami quarterback Cam Ward says he is not throwing at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis but will go through the interview process.

“I think my five years of film shows everything I can do,” Ward said Friday. “Me throwing here at the combine is not going to move the needle in any way.”

Ward pointed to Miami’s season opener against Florida and the 39-38 come-from-behind win against California as games that best showcase his talent.

Ward is in competition with former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders to be the first signal-caller selected in the draft. The two are training together in Dallas with private quarterback coach Darrell Colbert Jr.

Ward, a Heisman Trophy finalist, said he is the best quarterback in the draft because his mindset and approach separate him from everyone else. He added that he met with the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 pick, but that it doesn’t matter if he’s the first player selected.

“Whether I go first round or second round, at the end of the day, that draft pick doesn’t mean nothing,” Ward said. “It’s all about establishing yourself once you get the opportunity.”

Ward spent one season with the Hurricanes and finished with 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, both single-season school records.
