Phinsider Question Of The Day: Can They Afford To Keep Them All Edition

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel met with the media on Tuesday morning ahead of the start of the 2025 NFL Combine. He was asked if Dolphins starting left tackle Terron Armstead would return to the club for the upcoming season, and while McDaniel said he was unsure if Armstead would retire or not, he did say that Miami’s decision makers are currently operating as if the soon-to-be 34-year old will not be a member of the team moving forward.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said they will be operating as if LT Terron Armstead won’t play for Miami in 2025 as they move forward prepping for free agency and the draft.

Armstead is still mulling his options — with retirement certainly on the table — but time is of the essence for the Dolphins with the NFL’s free agency period set to start in a couple of weeks, and with the NFL Draft kicking off in two month’s time.

The Dolphins drafted former Houston Cougars left tackle Patrick Paul in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft at pick number 55 overall. Paul started three games for the Dolphins in 2024 — playing 337 snaps for Miami according to Pro Football Reference. If Armstead does retire, Paul would be the assumed replacement at the left tackle position.

We will continue to keep you updated with Terron Armstead’s retirement decision as more news becomes available.
