‘England battered Germany 5-1 and I got dropped by Bayern Munich, I was devastated’ – Owen Hargreaves explains club’s reaction to famous Three Lions victory

Two soccer players exchange a handshake on the field with a referee and another player in the background, as if guided by an auto draft of sportsmanship.

A brand new social media publish has stirred up the age-old debate between followers of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo by compiling over 100 footballers’ opinions on who stands out as the highest participant.

For years, Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the dialog about soccer greatness. Their rivalry is nothing in need of legendary, with each snagging nearly each award the game has to supply. Ronaldo took the lead by snagging a serious worldwide trophy with Portugal at Euro 2016. To not be outdone, Messi matched this with Argentina’s Copa America win in 2021 and even one-upped by lifting the World Cup the following 12 months.

On this intriguing 11-minute video, you’ll hear from their former teammates and a few of soccer’s most interesting minds. However right here’s the kicker: when the votes had been counted, Messi led the pack with 101 votes to Ronaldo’s 40. Some massive names like Giorgio Chiellini and Iker Casillas threw their weight behind Ronaldo, whereas stars like Kevin De Bruyne and Ronaldinho favored Messi.

In a candid chat again in 2019, Ronaldo shared that this competitors pushed them each to excel. “I’ve little question that Messi has made me a greater participant and vice-versa,” he admitted. Similar to the storied rivalries of Michael Jordan in basketball or Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in Formulation 1, Ronaldo sees their rivalry as a wholesome one which’s pushed each to greatness.
