Former UFC champ Matt Serra was not impressed with Sean O’Malley’s coach Tim Welch at UFC 306.

Merab Dvalishvili defeated O’Malley to seize the bantamweight title in the primary occasion of the promotion’s debut card at Sphere in Las Vegas. Serra, who cornered Dvalishvili on many events previously, reacted to the struggle — and extra particularly, Welch’s cornering efforts on his UFC Unfiltered podcast with comic Jim Norton.

“This struggle uncovered him as a coach as a result of when your man is successful and knocking individuals out, certain, you appear like a f*cking superhero,” Serra mentioned. “When your fighter is clearly dropping the struggle — and begins dropping rounds — Tim Welch was, like, not wanting to harm [O’Malley’s] emotions. ‘OK, good spherical,’ no, you’re dropping f*cking three rounds. You bought to get in his ass. … He was afraid that he didn’t know find out how to deal with his man [with] that many rounds, and I assumed his f*cking nook work was shit.

“So he uncovered himself. [Dvalishvili] took care of enterprise and Tim Welch had no solutions for his fighter.”

O’Malley mentioned he had “zero excuses” for his efficiency within the aftermath, and mentioned he would take an prolonged time frame off following the second lack of his professional profession. “Sugar” then revealed that he suffered a torn labrum, and shall be heading for surgical procedure on Oct. 3.
