On Tuesday night, Augusta National Golf Club hosted the annual Champions Dinner, before the start of this year’s edition of the Masters. Last year’s winner, Scottie Scheffler, had the honor of hosting the legends of this sport who, just like him, left a big mark by winning the Masters.
The official Masters page shared a photo from the dinner via social media, with Scottie Scheffler as the central figure. He is flanked by Augusta National Golf Club President Fred Ridley to his left and two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw to his right.
The American golfer revealed the Masters menu a few weeks ago, quite similar to the one from a few years ago.
This year’s dinner was attended by 32 past champions, as Vijay Singh, Lyle and Tiger Woods, who is recovering after surgery, were missing.
Although most are disappointed that Tiger was not present at this dinner, it is clear that the 49-year-old must focus on recovery, aware that by moving he can produce even stronger consequences for his body.
Tiger is recovering from Achilles tendon surgery, and the date of his return is still a big unknown. Fans hope that the experienced golfer will return to the golf courses at least early next year.
Looking at the photo, it looks like that the atmosphere was quite great, with participants enjoying this night, as in previous years.
The reactions to Scottie’s dinner are still unknown, but there is no doubt that we will find out more in the coming days.
What can we expect?
The fans are now focused on the tournament, hoping that their favorites will celebrate. Although, according to experts’ and bookmakers’ forecasts, Scottie Scheffler is the main favorite to win, as well as Rory McIlroy, this tournament used to bring surprises many times so far. However, we will see who will have the most concentration and quality to wear the green jacket in the end.
