Manchester United are interested in signing Jean-Philippe Mateta from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window, according to TBR. However, the Red Devils will not find it easy to get a deal done, with Palace ready to open talks with the striker over a new contract.
Mateta joined Palace on a permanent contract in 2022 after a loan spell from Mainz. The 27-year-old French striker has scored 44 goals and given nine assists in 139 appearances for the London club so far in his career. Mateta is under contract at the Eagles until the summer of 2026.
Palace are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 39 points from 28 matches. Meanwhile, Man United currently find themselves 15th in the standings with 33 points from 27 games. The Red Devils will take on Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, while Palace beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Selhurst Park in London in the league on Saturday.
